Grammy & Genealogy

I've used my interest in genealogy as a topic of many blog posts. I think the earliest was "G'day" back in 2008. I also maintain a blog (though ignored too much recently) on family photos and stories: Grammy Blick's Family Workbook.

I am very well aware of what the Bible has to say about genealogy.  There are 22 verses in the King James version that use genealogy or genealogies.  It was an important subject in Judaism, very important to our Lord's claim to the throne of David.  But there are other views expressed, too:

Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. (1 Timothy 1:4 KJV)

So, I spend more time posting here than I do on genealogy, though my parents instilled a respect for family history and a curiosity to always learn more.  Please, stop by if you find it interesting, too.

  1. Hi Phyllis! Could you clear up something for me (I really don't want to appear confused, but I am). Back to John Gadoga Thompson. Is Jr. or Sr. the one who married Ahnewake? Also is Jennie Vann and Ahnewake the same person, Jennie being her English name? There is so much confusion on ancestry.com. I just want a clear head on this. Maybe you can direct me to some old docs that prove all this? Janis Vescovi

Thank you for taking time to read and comment on the blog. Comments should take into consideration this verse: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8 KJV)
